With the help of a select group of renowned craftsmen, visionary decorator Pieter Porters succeeded in revealing the heart of this protected 18th-century mansion and gave the building on the Paardenmarkt (Horse Market Square) back its stately appearance.
A magnificent town garden with sun terrace, a majestic magnolia tree and beautifully crafted herb garden render the whole a hint of paradise.
Though the spicy fragrances have long evaporated, the oldest part of this noble hotel used to serve as a tobacco trading house until the Second World War.

The building abundantly exhibits its authenticity. The old floor tiles, marble mantelpiece and immense doors, unified into a luxurious home for gastronomes and hedonists by the artistic hand of Pieter Porters, naturally bring you into higher spheres.

The folk sports route
Holderdebolder through the Hoppeland, stay at least 2 nights at Hotel Recour, then it is possible to discover this authentic tour by 2, with the family or the family.
During WWI, Poperinge and Veurne were the only towns that were not occupied.
Located behind the trench net around Ypres, the Ypres Salient or Ieperboog, Poperinge soon became the favourite relaxation spot for British troops and everyone did business with the Tommies.
In December 1915, to provide spiritual assistance in addition to comradely amusement, chaplains Philip 'Tubby' Clayton and Neville Talbot opened the soldiers' club Talbot House where everyone, regardless of origin, was welcome: Every Man's Club.
Due to the violence of war, a number of British soldiers refused to go to war again or deserted, resulting in death or execution. 2 death cells were restored and the execution pole was also returned to the courtyard of the Town Hall. At Poperinge New Military Cemetery, 17 executed people found their last resting place.
